Planting Services

Our friendly gardeners can plant annuals, perennials, shrubs, and small trees on your property. We collaborate with customers to choose the plants that will do well in their garden environment, whether it be sunny or shady, dry or wet. We listen carefully to what the customer wants and help make their personal garden one they will enjoy for years to come.

The soil or planters are lovingly prepared to welcome the new plants and encourage them to put down roots and enjoy their new home. The homeowners are also counseled on how to water and fertilize their new plants so they will thrive.

The photos below show how some well-chosen perennials and annuals can make a big difference in your landscape.

Before & After #1

I helped prepare this client’s front and backyard for a home sale, and the owner had not done any landscape maintenance in the previous year. It was extremely overgrown and I weeded, pruned the shrubs, divided and transplanted hostas, and planted chrysanthemums.

Before & After #2

I helped improve the curb appeal of the client’s entrance bed, and we first salvaged the plants that could be used from the front garden bed.  Then, I amended the soil with compost and brought in a variety of coral bells, tiarella, dead nettle ‘Rose Pewter’, brunnera, hostas, epimedium, and peony to make the front entrance more alive.

Before & After #3

This client approached me to create a border garden around the entire backyard.  I sketched a design that included a variety of juglone-tolerant shade shrubs and perennials and planted impatiens between them for summer-long colour.  I also improved the front by planting different dwarf evergreens and creating a tulip display for spring.

There is also a shady border that is occasionally flooded, so I planted perennials that can tolerate occasional flooding, such as ferns, creeping jenny, canna lilies, and begonias.

Before & After #4

This client approached me to create a fence border garden for both sides of the entrance path.  I sketched a design that included a variety of long-blooming plants like Rozanne geraniums, catmint, Zagreb coreopsis, and panicle hydrangeas.

Before & After #5

This East York client approached me to help her improve her front yard.  She has a woodland style garden with trees that cast deep shade in the rear, and cedars with roots that made the existing ferns grow slowly.  We selected drought-tolerant lady ferns, Dixie wood ferns, and shield fern ‘Autumn Brilliance’, and August Moon hostas to brighten up the shade.

Garden Makeover #6

This Scarborough client approached me to help him create a more attractive garden for his townhouse. We planted a variety of hostas, grasses, lilies, and annuals to bring cheer to his front entrance. Surprise! He also got a letter from his city councilor commending him for his attractive front yard plantings.
